February 7-9

Got a kid who just loves dinosaurs? His or her dream is about to be fulfilled in a mega-mega way at the David L Lawrence Convention Center downtown on the weekend of February 7-9.

Jurassic Quest is dinosaurs and more dinosaurs, in about every manner you can imagine. Naturally, there are life-size models (this year, with a 50-foot Megalodon) but that’s just for starters. There are special animatronics children can ride (lots of different species), touchable walking dinosaurs that run around and play to the audience, even baby dinos that interact in fun ways. On the more educational front, there are sandpits where kids can “unearth” fossils, and dinosaur experts who will take you on an interactive tour. When the kids are on dino overload, there’s a bounce house, bungee pull, and face painting.

Jurassic Quest is a travelling exhibit, so it’s only for one weekend: Friday, February 7, 3-8 pm; Saturday the 8th from 9 am – 8 pm; Sunday the 9th from 9 am – 7 pm. Adults and kids 2-12 are $24; seniors 65+ are $22, but it may be best to splurge on the VIP Pass for kids ($38), which covers unlimited rides and activities except for green photos and face painting. It’s best to book ahead as, in the event of a sell-out, you’ll be unable to avoid disappointment at the door.
