Walking tours a little slow-paced for you? Here’s an option that gets you to all the highlights at twice the speed – and gives you some exercise while you’re at it: Pittsburgh Running Tours

Pittsburgh Running Tours has been around since 2013 and has developed quite a following, hosting guided tours and routes that take participants all over the city. The 5K Public Art Tour (there are others that include runs of the South Side, uptown and more) explores eye-catching murals and other displays of public art over the course of about an hour and a half, keeping up a casual pace of 10-11 minutes per mile. Tour starts at 10:00 am (please arrive 10-15 minutes prior); registration is $30 and available online. Running strollers are welcome, and be sure to bring your camera, as there will be extra stops to take photos. The event is rain or shine.

If the experience leaves you pumped for another run the following Saturday, you’re in luck. Forty minutes north in New Brighton, it’s the annual running of the St. Patrick’s Day 5K. The event starts at 9:30 am at Big Rock Park. The cost is $20 and includes a free commemorative T-shirt if you register before March 6th.
